KOZHIKODE: Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani, who was here to attend the BJP national council meeting, spent some time with hundreds of Gujarati families settled in Kozhikode at a function on Saturday. He was accorded a reception by the community members at the Sait Manekhal Purushotham Memorial Hall located at Gujarati Higher Secondary School.

He expressed happiness that the Gujaratis were following the culture and traditions of Gujarat in spite of living in Kerala for years. “The Modi government in Gujarat raised it as a model state and it is now way ahead in terms of education, health, agriculture, development and women protection,” he said.

Some were trying to portray Gujarat as an anti- Dalit state citing minor issues, he said and pointed out that Gujarat had given Dalits and minorities equal opportunities to grow. He also mingled with the people and took photographs with them. Minister Pradeep Singh Jadeja, Gujarat chief principal secretary K. Kailash Nath and Calicut Gujarati Samaj managing trustee Vijay Singh were also present at the function.
