KOCHI: A group of leading writers and cultural activists has condemned the police action against the activists of Wisdom Global Islamic Mission at North Paravoor.  In a statement issued on Thursday they have called for the immediate release of the arrested activists and urged the government to take stringent action against the RSS activists involved in attacking  the volunteers of Wisdom. “The RSS is making every effort for a well planned communal strife,” the statement said.

The police has imprisoned the Mujahid activists slapped with serious charges while the RSS cadres involved in attacking them were let off with minor charges, they alleged. The signatories included K. Satchidanandan, BRP Bhaskar, Najmal Babu, Meena Kand-asamy, J. Devika, Prof. T.T. Sreekumar, Dr K.T. Rammohan, M.N. Ravunni, Dr Rekharaj, M.N. Karassery and several others.

The Paravoor incident raises concern about whether the much trumpeted Kerala renaissance is heading for a tragic end, they pointed out. “All progressive and democratic forces must join to resist the nefarious designs of the communal fascists”, they added. The Janakeeya Manushyavakasa Prasthanam has also condemned the police action against the Wisdom Global activists and called for their immediate release.
