Kerala High Court grants advance bail to T P Senkumar

A single bench directed Mr Senkumar to appear before the investigating officer within ten days.

Kochi: The Kerala High Court on Monday granted anticipatory bail to former state police chief T.P. Senkumar, an accused in a case pertaining to the controversial remarks allegedly promoting enmity between different religions.  A single bench directed Mr Senkumar to appear before the investigating officer within ten days. If the petitioner is arrested, he should be released on bail on executing a bond of Rs 50,000 plus two solvent sureties for the like sum.

The court granted him bail observing that custodial interrogation of the petitioner was not needed. The police obtained the full version of the interview and the audio records. The police had registered a case against him for the offence under section 153 (A) (1) (a) of IPC on the charges of creating rift among different communities.
