Visakhapatnam: Tigress Janaki died in Indira Gandhi Zoological Park on Saturday at the age of 22. A release from the zoo said Janaki had exceeded the average longevity for tigers. She was not doing well for over two weeks and efforts to save her failed. As a senile animal, she had received specialized attention, ensuring her comfort and well-being.

On Monday, the animal health committee also reviewed the case and the committee was also of the opinion that the tigress has crossed the average longevity age and was in its last days. Over the years, she served as an ambassador for her species, educating and raising awareness about the importance of tiger conservation.
