Shia body calls for boycott of K Chandrashekar Rao's iftar

Hyderabad: The Shia Companions Foundation, on behalf of the Shia community of Hyderabad, has decided to boycott the iftar hosted by the TS government on June 26 at Nizam College grounds of the city.

The community elders had earlier requested the government to postpone or reschedule the Iftar as the event coincided with the date of martyrdom of Hazrat Maula Ali, the son-in-law of the Prophet.

The Foundation alleged that the government, on the wrong advice of some leaders of a local political party, ignored the request to reschedule the date.

The Foundation said that a massive procession will be taken out on the day under the banner of All India Shia Conference from Charminar to Chaderghat .
