COVID Cases in Vizag Surge to 11

Visakhapatnam: Superintendent of King George Hospital (KGH) in Visakhapatnam has confirmed 11 positive Covid-19 cases out of the 34 samples tested on Sunday. But there is no confirmation yet regarding the JN1 variant.

"The addresses of all positive cases are being meticulous traced to contain the spread of the virus," the superintendent stated.

He said a comprehensive report will be submitted to the District Medical and Health Officer (DMHO) tomorrow. This report will play a pivotal role in determining the course of action authorities take with regard to the affected individuals.

Based on the severity of symptoms and overall health condition, it will be decided whether the patients should be under home isolation or must be hospitalised for intensive care.

The KGH superintendent the number of Covid tests has been increased to keep a vigil on the virus. Currently, up to 100 tests are being conducted per day.

The superintendent also requested citizens to remain vigilant and adhere to Covid safety protocols, including wearing masks.
