VIJAYAWADA: Andhra Pradesh Rythu Sangham (APRS) state secretary K. Prabhakar Reddy announced that they will hold a maha dharna on June 30 at the Dharna Chowk in Vijayawada to address farmers' issues in the state.

He said that the state government failed to provide input subsidies and crop insurance to farmers who lost crops due to natural disasters such as floods during the previous year's Kharif and Rabi seasons.

Prabhakar Reddy urged farmers to participate in the maha dharna and make the initiative a big success. Farmers who grew cotton, tomato, groundnut, maize, tobacco, banana, mango, and turmeric crops suffered losses, he said, and despite the fact that the Kharif season had begun, the state government had not released crop insurance to farmers. He claimed that the state government failed to compensate him for lands acquired for irrigation projects, industries, the NHAI, and rail lines.

He remarked that the state government should compensate farmers in accordance with the Land Acquisition - 2013 and assess the market value for 2023. Following that, the Rythu Sangham leader asked that the Polavaram Project and the Uttarandhra irrigation projects be completed.
