TIRUPATI: The hundi of Lord Venkateswara in Tirumala has got record collections. On Monday, the collection crossed Rs 4.18 crore, which surprised even TTD officials as the number of devotees had fallen over the past 10 days.

Since the demonetisation of high value notes on November 8, devotees put about Rs 34.03 crore in the hundi.

There are demands that the TTD should bar the banned high-value notes as the Shirdi Samsthan has done. TTD has stopped taking banned currency for Arjitha Seva tickets, rooms and for laddus. It has made alternative arrangements using swiping machines at several places.
