Water specially released for Ganesh immersion at Anantapur

Anantapur: Water from the Tungabhadra High Level Main Canal was released towards the High Level Main Canal passing through Anantapur headquarters for immersion of Ganesh idols in Anantapur city on Friday.

More than 200 idols were immersed from various parts of Anantapur city and its surrounding areas.

There was no water till Thursday night except for the Anantapur summer storage tank. Water was released from PABR dam towards the high level canal on Friday morning. Deputy mayor Kogatam Vijayabhaskar said enough water was released to the HL canal exclusively for immersion of idols and that the municipal corporation has made necessary arrangements at HLMC and at the summer storage tank premises to accommodate all the idols for immersion.

As the immersion fete here was similar to the one in Hyderabad city, additional forces were posted at all sensitive areas. The main idol from Ganesh circle was highlighted along with other idols from the city which passed through Ganesh circle and through the Clock Tower and Srikantam circles.

DSP Prasad Reddy regulated the traffic. There were long queues of vehicles carrying idols from different parts of the city, which reached the Ganesh circle as a tradition. Most of the idols were on their procession in the late hours. Fire crews and security forces were present at the points where the idols were immersed.
