KANNUR: A  secular country must  serve its  people equally and ensure their welfare, according to noted writer and thinker Dr K. S. Bhagavan.     “The government should take care of the people who are struggling to meet their daily needs,” he said while inaugurating the  Kannur University Students Union on the Nirmalagiri College premises on Friday. He added that the education system in the country should promote rationalism and scientific  thinking.

“However at present, the majority of the educational institutions do not encourage the thinking capacity of the students,” he said. He also criticised the Nirmalagiri college management for denying permission to hold the programme on the campus after the  SFI  won the college union elections last time. Kannur University Pro-Vice-Chancellor Dr T. Asokan and  University Union chairman C.P. Shiju among others were present.
