Mysuru police chief\'s office shut down due to Covid breakout

Alarmingly a total of 93 city police personnel of Mysuru city are tested positive for covid 19 so far

Mysuru: The Covid-19 pandemic continued to play havoc in Mysuru with the police commissioner's office having to be sealed for sanitisation after four police personnel from the general branch tested positive.

So far a total of 93 police personnel, including seven women have tested positive for Covid 19 in Mysuru.

These include 25 civil policemen from 12 police stations in the city, five from the Karnataka Police Academy (KPA), one from the Police Training School (PTS), 55 from the Karnataka State Reserve Police (KSRP), and five from the Railway Police.

While 60 of them have ben cured and discharged, 31 are active cases.

Several of those who have tested positive are from the Narasimharaja, Udaygiri, Lashkar and Mandi Mohalla police station limits where a large number of Covid 19 deaths and positive cases has been reported in recent days.

Mysuru is witnessing an alarming spurt in coronavirus cases. There are a total of 522 containment zones in the city including 217 in the Narasimharaja police division, 168 in Devraja police division, and 113 in the Krishnaraja police division.

There have been 85 Covid-19 deaths so far.
