CHENNAI: T. T. V. Dhinakaran might have refused to provide his voice samples in connection with the Election Commission bribery case, but the Delhi police’s crime branch has found a novel way to get the samples. The cops have written to four prominent Tamil news television channels to share videos of Mr Dhinakaran’s interview to facilitate conduct of voice sample test.

The crime branch wants voice samples of Mr Dhinakaran to authenticate the “recorded conversation” between the AIADMK deputy general secretary and a conman. Though the Delhi police sought Mr Dhinakaran’s voice sample during a hearing in May, he refused to provide the same.

And now, police has found a novel way to test the voice samples and have knocked on the doors of the television channels, to whom the AIADMK leader had given sit-in interviews in the run up to the April 12 RK Nagar bypolls cancelled by the EC. Mr Dhinakaran was put behind bars after Delhi police filed a case alleging that he attempted to influence EC officials to get a favorable order for his faction in the “Two Leaves” symbol case.
