CPI Idukki district secretary K.K. Sivaraman said that the revenue officials implemented the eviction drive with the consent of the revenue minister.

Kottayam: The eviction drive in Idukki district has suffered  a jolt due to the state government’s stand towards the officials, including the collector and the sub- collector who implemented the revenue ministry’s  decisions. However, the CPI  Idukki district leadership has stood firm behind the officials who removed the cross at Papathichola. CPI Idukki district secretary K.K. Sivaraman said that the revenue officials  implemented the eviction drive with the  consent of the revenue minister.  Hence,  they  could not be blamed for the  demolition drive.

“There will be no action against the officials as they have implemented the ministry’s decision.    The government is committed to going ahead with the evictions,”  he told DC. The morale of the revenue officials was  affected after the CM’s reaction on Friday evening.  With the  ban on JCB,  the revenue authorities will have to  depend on  manpower for the eviction activities which will slow down the pace of the drive.
