TSRTC to introduce dynamic ticketing

HYDERABAD: In a move that is inspired by the trends prevalent in railways and air travel, Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) has decided to fluctuate their ticket prices from March 27. Towards this, prices will be reduced on non-peak or lean days, similar to flight bookings and using tatkal services for train tickets.

The pilot project of the proposed dynamic unseasonal ticketing will be carried out in 46 services running on the Bengaluru route. There will be a reduction of 20 to 30 percent of the original fare.

Announcing this at a press conference here on Thursday, chairman of the corporation Bajireddy Govardhan and its vice-chairman and managing director V.C. Sajjanar said that these initiatives were intended to benefit passengers and serving them is the motto of the corporation.  They said that the dynamic pricing system will depend on parameters like occupancy, traffic and demand.
Tickets will be priced as per the demand, whether less or heavy, and would be managed by the well-networked computer programming. Private operators charge exorbitantly even on normal days, and cash in the seasonal demand by hiking the prices further, they said.

“We have decided to introduce the dynamic pricing structure in online booking in order to provide affordable and budget-friendly travel when compared to the private operators. Peak seasons would have an inverse effect on our ticket prices,” they said.

They expressed hope that the dynamic pricing system will benefit passengers and their patronization will also stay consolidated.
