Kurnool: Nandyal district police have booked two persons, one each from Atmakur and Nandyal towns, under the Preventive Detention Act due to their repeated involvement in criminal activities.

District SP K. Raghuveer Reddy explained that Pathan Nabi Khan has for the past few years been consistently engaging in disruptive and criminal activities within Atmakur town, disturbing peace and security within the community.

Police registered 21 cases against him, including one under the POCSO Act, 10 theft cases, three SC / ST cases, two attempted murder cases, one extortion case and four public disturbance cases.

Similarly, Seethamma has been involved in five ganja cases in recent years and has become a problematic person.

Despite both Khan and Seethamma being sent to remand on multiple occasions, there has been no improvement in their behaviour

As a result, on the recommendation of police, district collector Dr. Manazir Jeelani Samoon on Thursday issued orders invoking the PD Act against Pathan Nabi Khan, 32, and Varikuntla Seethamma, 59.

Both these persons have been taken into custody and shifted to Central Jail, Kadapa, on Thursday.
