Hyderabad: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has initiated an awareness campaign in the city to educate voters at the constituency level about the Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) and Voter Verification Paper Audit Trial (VVPAT) to ensure they can cast their votes correctly.

The programme, which started at the GHMC headquarters, will continue until the State Election Commission issues election notifications.

In line with the instructions from the Chief Electoral Officer of the State, the awareness campaign is being carried out using mobile vehicles in the Hyderabad District’s Assembly constituencies. The District Election Officer of Hyderabad has instructed the respective electoral officers at the constituency level to organise these awareness programmes until the election notifications are issued.

During this programme at the GHMC headquarters, electronic machines are being used to demonstrate the proper use of VVPAT. Similarly, EVM Demo Station Centres have been set up in various Deputy Commissioner's offices and other locations. Each centre has an appointed officer in charge who is responsible for educating voters about the electronic voting machines. These awareness programmes will continue until the election notifications are released.
