MALAPPURAM: The Indian Union Muslim League has called for a joint protest by all parties and stakeholders to protect the  cooperative sector in the state. Rejecting KPCC president  V.M Sudheeran’s stand on the issue,   Mr K.P.A Majeed, IUML  general secretary,  said here on Saturday,  “the current issues affecting the cooperative sector are serious and all should join hands to launch a joint protest against any move to harm the sector.”

“All have welcomed the protest led by  Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. The Opposition too has requested for  a special Assembly session.  Joint efforts are the need of the hour to protect cooperative societies and their  financial institutions,” he  said. Any deviation from this stand should be discussed and decided by the UDF, he added.   The Muslim League’s response came in the wake of  Mr Sudheeran’s objection to  joining the CPM-led agitation on the matter.
