Mata Amritanandamayi to be present at Amritotsavam

Adequate medical facilities are also being arranged for the thousands of devotees expected to arrive.

Thiruvananthapuram:  Mata Amritanandamayi will take part in Amritotsavam 2017 at Kaimanam here Jan 25-26, coinciding with the silver jubilee celebrations of the Brahmasthanam Temple at Amrita Nagar. She will be giving darshan to devotees, besides prayers. She will arrive in the capital on Jan 24 evening from Amritapuri, Kollam, and will have a Satsang, Bhajan and Prasad session with volunteers and devotees. The Mata will leave for Kanyakumari on Jan 27 for consecrating and dedicating the Bharat Mata temple at Vivekananda Kendra to the nation there the next day.

Twenty-six years ago when she installed the first Brahmasthanam temple at Kodungallur and appointed young Brahmacharis as priests, it created a social uproar in Kerala. She continued to establish more Brahmasthanam temples with the second one coming up in Chennai followed by the one here on Feb 16, 1992.
The unique idol at Brahmasthanam consists of four deities, Siva, Devi, Skanda (in serpent form) and Ganesha, carved on four sides of a single stone following Vaastu tradition. Anyone, irrespective of religion, gender or culture can take part in the self-participatory pujas for malefic influences of planets at Brahmasthanam temple.

There will be Ganapathy Homam at 6 am and Sri Bhuvaneswari Puja at 7 pm on all three days from Jan 24. At 7 am and 10 am, there will be mass Rahu Puja and Sakutumba Navagraha Pooja on Jan 25 and mass Shani Pooja and Mritynjaya Homam on Jan 26. A public reception committee with BJP MLA O. Rajagopal as chairman and Rajasekharan Nair of Uday Samudra as general secretary will give a befitting welcome to Mata.
