Baby Kumaraswamy' dies after rescue
The child, who was rescued from a garbage pile at Celebrity Layout in Doddathoguru on June 4, failed to respond to treatment and died.
BENGALURU: The Electronics City police were emotionally wrought last Thursday, June 7, after they got the news that infant Kumaraswamy, who was breastfed by a woman constable from the station just hours after being rescued, had died Constable Archana, who had nursed the newborn, told Deccan Chronicle, “The baby was weak and had a wound on his forehead. We tried our best to take care of him but he did not survive. I had gone to visit him after he was admitted to the Indira Gandhi Institute of Child Health.”
The child, who was rescued from a garbage pile at Celebrity Layout in Doddathoguru on June 4, failed to respond to treatment and died. A police officer from the Electronics City police station said, “I did not know that the injury on the head would kill the baby. It was a very sad day as all of us at the police station were praying for the child’s survival. We are all heartbroken.”
The newborn had got a new lease on life after Archana breastfed the hungry baby at the Electronics City police Station. People had appreciated the kind act of the police constable for going beyond the call of duty to save the child's life. The baby, who was named Kumaraswamy, had then been rushed to a government-run childcare centre. Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy too had lauded Archana’s gesture, and wanted to meet her.
