Thrissur: The members of United Nurses Association organised a protest march to Kerala University of Health Science (KUHS) on Monday demanding legal action against Kannur district collector Mir Mohammed Ali, who passed an order on Sunday to deploy nursing students in private hospitals in view of the strike organised by nurses of private hospitals in Kannur. United Nurses Association president Jasmin Shah, who took part in the protest, said the registrar of KUHS should clarify   stance and take legal action against the collector for issuing an order to deploy nursing students in the hospital. If the order is not withdrawn, UNA would bring together faculties, students and the parents to organise a huge protest, he added.

He also informed that United Nurses Parents Association members would file a writ petition in the court against the Collector’s orders, Jasmin Shah said that the association decided not to go on strike, as High Court Mediation Committee meeting would be held on July 19. But the Kannur district collector, in such a situation, has brought out a controversial order to help the private hospital management. "UNA suspects whether the district collector has received any favours from the management to bring out such orders," he alleged. It is illegal to deploy the students on work without getting the approval from the Kerala Nursing Council and KUHS registrar, he noted.
