Vijayawada: A holiday at Manginapudi beach turned into heartbreak for a group of IIIT Nuzvid students after one of them, Akhil Tokala, was swept away by strong tidal waves and later found deceased.

According to reports, five students went to the beach Sunday morning. As they played near the shore, unexpected waves pulled them into the sea. Panicked cries alerted marine police, who swiftly launched a rescue operation. Four students were safely pulled back, but Tokala remained missing.

An hours-long search by marine police and professional swimmers ultimately led to the discovery of Tokala's body near the beach. The 21-year-old, a third-year engineering student from Kandukuru village in Nellore district, hailed from an agricultural family.

Authorities have registered a case, and Tokala's body was handed over to his grieving parents after an autopsy.
