Lake Palace Resort row: Collector T V Anupama waits for KSREC report

In the final report, the collector had said that the exact extent of the converted land could be determined only with the help of KSREC report.

Alappuzha: District collector T.V. Anupama is waiting for the report from Kerala State Remote Sensing and Environment Centre (KSREC) to proceed against the controversial Lake Palace resort owned by Water World Tourism Company which is facing charges of encroachment of government land. The collector,  who has powers under the Kerala Conservation of Paddy and Wetland Act 2008, can prosecute the occupier as per section 13 of the Act to bring the converted land to its original form.       In the final report, the collector had said that the exact extent of the converted land could be determined  only with the help of KSREC report.  

She  will  issue notice to the violators only after getting the report from the revenue secretary. Revenue Minister E. Chandrasekharan said on Thursday  that the collector can act  according to the law  and bring the converted land to its original form.  Ms Anupama   had said in an  affidavit submitted to the High Court on October 25   that an inquiry was still underway to understand the extent of the converted land. A total of  64 plots were owned by the company in Marthandam kayal. Out of this, the documents of 13 plots were verified.
