HYDERABAD: HMRL and HAML managing director N.V.S. Reddy was felicitated by Lions Club International on the occasion of Engineer’s Day on Friday. This was in recognition of his contribution in the fields of engineering, project management and innovations in building the world’s largest metro rail project in the PPP mode.

Accepting the felicitations, Reddy advised engineers from across the spectrum “to be prepared for failures and learn lessons in order to achieve success with unwavering commitment.”

He recalled the challenges faced by him while coming up with a world class public transportation system, including agitations by different interest groups, handling sensitive religious structures, shifting of statues and innumerable court cases, which all cropped up along the way.

He said that what helped him pull through was clarity of thought combined with goal-oriented approach, communication skills and coming up with out of the box solutions.

“Those who threw brickbats at me are now presenting bouquets and requesting me to extend metro rail connectivity across the city,” he said.

At a separate event in Metro Rail bhavan, Reddy urged engineers to execute the airport metro project within the deadline with innovation and frugal engineering.
