Hyderabad: Man sexually assaults minor, held

Hyderabad: A 25-year-old man from Siddipet was arrested by the Neredmet police on charges of sexual assault of a 16-year-old girl on Sunday.

According to Neredmet police, the accused identified as K. Raju, 25, a native of Siddipet was harassing the girl for quite some time. Due to his harassment, her parents moved her to the city after her completion of Class VIII at Muruku village in Siddipet and got her admitted to a government high school in Class IX in the city.

On Sunday noon, Raju learnt that the girl was alone at her home in RK Puram and went to meet her. Suddenly the girl's father entered the house and in a bid to rush out, Raju pushed him out of the way that resulted in a fracture of her father's hand.

The girl then told her parents that for the last two years, Raju had been chasing her in the name of love and had also sexually assaulted her when she recently went to her maternal grandparents' house for Bonalu festival.

Neredmet inspector A. Narsimha Swamy said, “The girl’s mother then lodged a complaint that Raju had sexually assaulted the minor girl by forcibly taking her to an isolated area at Siddipet. Based on it, the girl was sent for medical examination and the accused has been arrested under the relevant sections 366, 324, 417, 420, 376 (2) (i) of IPC ands section 5 (i) r/w 6 of POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) Act.”
