VIJAYAWADA: Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy on Saturday announced an ex gratia of ₹10 lakh to kin of the Class X boy, who was burnt to death by the stalker of his elder sister on outskirts of Rajavolu in Bapatla district.

MP Mopidevi Venkataramana Rao said when he brought the issue to the notice of the CM, he expressed concern and sanctioned ₹10 lakh immediately. The cheque for the amount has also been delivered to family members of the victim.

Moreover, the state government announced sanction of a job to one of the family members, apart from a house site to the family, with an assurance that a house will be constructed on it.

Repalle MLA Anagani Satyaprasad of Telugu Desam, along with his supporters, staged a dharna at the Cherukupalli Island Centre while the body of the Class X boy was being brought to Rajavolu. He demanded a financial relief of ₹25 lakh to family members of the victim.

Revenue authorities and police intervened and asked the agitators to give up their stir, as the boy’s body had to be taken for performing the last rites at his native Uppalavaripalem village in Cherukupalli mandal of Bapatla district.
