Hyderabad: NASA astronaut Raja Chari, whose father hailed from Hyderabad, took to Twitter to post about how Independence Day reminded him of the city.

Raja’s post in Twitter said, “On Indian Independence eve I’m reminded of the Indian Diaspora that I could see from @SpaceStation where my immigrant father’s home town of Hyderabad shines bright. @nasa is just 1 place Indian Americans make a difference every day. Looking forward to @IndianEmbassyUS celebration (sic).”

Adding to his post Chari, the first NASA rookie to command a spaceflight since 1973,  shared a video stating, “I am excited to be here to celebrate India’s 75th anniversary of independence. As you may already know NASA-ISRO have a long history of cooperation going back to the early days.”

“We look forward to the near future to the first human space flight mission launched by ISRO and look forward to working with you and cooperating in the future as NASA looks forward to return to moon to stay as a part of this programme. Congratulations and all of India should be proud of this historic new anniversary (sic),” Chari tweeted.
