Anantapur: Road traffic has remained disrupted between Kadapa and Tadipatri for past few days after the overflowing Papagni River washed away the road near Kamalapuram in YSR district.

Traffic is being diverted via Khajipet, sub-inspector Chinna Peddaiah said.

The main bridge across Papagni River in Kamalapuram area, connecting Kadapa with Anantapur, had collapsed due to heavy floods way back in 2001. In the recent rains, the approach road, which had been built across Papagni River at an estimated cost of ₹6.50 crore a year ago near Kamalapur on the Kadapa-Tadipatri route, too got washed away.

Kamalapuram police are monitoring the traffic and diverting vehicles viz Khajipet.
