Kannur hospitals agree to set up swiping machines

As many as 15 hospitals in Kannur have signed agreements with the banks and the implementation will start on Wednesday.

KANNUR: The Kannur district administration has mooted  fixing Point of Sales (POS) swiping machines in institutions providing essential service  to tackle the shortage of currency notes.  District collector Mir Muhammed Ali has requested  all service providers to install the machines at the earliest with the help of the banks.  The machines are given  free of cost by the banks.   The collector had called a meeting of major banks in the district  to discuss  the  scheme on Sunday which was coordinated by the  lead bank manager.

The interested institutions should contact the  banks  and if there are any problems,  the SBI will aid them.   “All have extended their cooperation  to the scheme,” said the collector.  “Priority will be given to hospitals, clinics and  medical stores and the SBI has promised to install the POS  within 48 hours,” he added. As many as 15 hospitals in Kannur have   signed agreements with the banks and   the implementation  will start on Wednesday. “I have  already spoken with the hospital authorities about  installing the machine. We hope  the public can get hassle-free health care and it will also lessen the strain on banks,” the collector added.
