Union minister Alphons Kannanthanam vows to help Kochi Metro

After taking a ride from Maharajas College to Kaloor, the minister appreciated the facilities of the Metro.

KOCHI: Necessary steps will be taken to ensure the Union government’s aid for the next phase of the Kochi Metro, Union minister Alphons Kannanthanam said on Saturday. After taking a ride from Maharajas College to Kaloor, the minister appreciated the facilities of the Metro. “I have travelled in the Delhi Metro many times. Compared with it, Kochi metro is far better,” he said.

The minister who was accompanied with his  family friends, stood in queue and bought tickets from the counter, without seeking any special  privileges.  It was when the slow movement of Metro works was brought to his attention, the minister promised steps to complete the project as per schedule.  Though the minister’s earlier plan was to commute from Aluva to Maharajas, it was cut down so he could attend other functions in the city.
