HYDERABAD: A techie riding a motorcycle died of a cardiac arrest on the PVNR Expressway, after losing his way in the wee hours of Monday. Two-wheelers are barred on the expressway.

Police said the victim, Munnaluri Harinaga Venkata Surya Charan, 21, had set out with six of his friends, all techies and new to the city, on a tour on Sunday night. Since they were new to the city, they were tracking their routes on Google Maps.

The group rode to Tank Bund and Secretariat and decided to go to the Durgam Cheruvu cable bridge. As they neared Mehdipatnam, Charan entered the expressway. As it was late at night, there were no traffic cops to stop him and he might have missed the signages.

Upon realising his error, police said, Charan exited the expressway at one of the ramps, took a U-turn, re-entered the expressway and began riding towards Mehdipatnam.

When he was near Pillar 84 of the expressway, the bike skidded and he fell on the road. A car driver alerted police about the person fallen on the road. Police shifted Charan to a nearby hospital and then to NIMS, where he succumbed while undergoing treatment. Doctors said that Charan had not suffered any serious injuries but had died of cardiac arrest.

According to police, Charan from Krishna district had joined an MNC a few days ago and was residing at Pocharam near Ghatkesar.
