Six labourers killed in hit and run accident in AP's Gollapalli

6 farm labourers of Lion Tanda in Nuzvid mandal were killed when their auto-rickshaw was hit by a speeding vehicle

VIJAYAWADA: In a ghastly road accident, six agriculture labourers belonging to Lion Tanda in Nuzvid mandal of Krishna district were killed and seven others injured when the auto-rickshaw they were travelling in was hit by a speeding vehicle at Gollapalli village in the early hours of Sunday.

Immediately after they were informed by locals, police rushed to the spot and shifted the injured to the hospital. The Nuzvid police said that the agriculture workers were proceeding to Bapulapadu mandal.

The deceased were identified as Bhukya Nagaraju (22), Vadtiya Ramesh (28), Dharmavatu Bedi (30), Banavatu Sona (55), Bhukya Somali (45) and Balavatu Nagu (40).

The seven injured persons were shifted to area government hospital in Nuzvid and GGH, Vijayawada and are undergoing treatment.

Krishna district collector A Md Imtiaz called on the injured persons at GGH in Vijayawada and consoled the family. Nuzvid MLA Meka Pratap Apparao and other officials also visited the hospital and interacted with families of the injured.
Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy expressing profound shock, announced ex gratia of Rs five lakh to family members of the deceased.

Governor Biswa Bhusan Harichandan and Telugu Desam chief N Chandrababu Naidu expressed shock  and prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured.
