Kollam: CPM men hurt as RSS rally turns violent

The RSS conducted the march in protest against the opposition raised by the CPM activists in running the centre.

Kollam: Tension prevailed in Kulathupuzha panchayat in eastern Kollam after two CPM activists were injured in an attack allegedly by RSS workers on Monday night. The CPM observed a hartal and conducted a protest march in the panchayat on Tuesday. The Kulathupuzha police  arrested a person in connection with the incident and are  in search of four others behind the attack. CPM local committee member Anil Kumar and DYFI area committee member Anas were attacked after a march by the RSS turned violent around  8 p.m. at Sam Nagar at Kulathupuzha.

The RSS had recently started a new arms training centre (shakha) at Sam Nagar following which there was friction between the CPM and RSS workers. The RSS conducted the march in protest against the opposition raised  by the CPM activists in running the centre. “A man named Suresh from Kulathupuzha was  arrested and remanded for the attack. He has been charged under the SC/ST Act and sections under IPC, including 307. The police are  in search of four others  involved in the attack,”  Mr R. Baiju, Kulathupuzha CI,  told DC.
