Hyderabad: “Chief Minister KCR is visiting numerous temples for blessings from gods. This is fine. But the temples that KCR should visit are the houses of the martyrs who laid down their precious lives for the cause of separate Telangana,” said AICC spokesperson Dr. Dasoju Shravan.

Dasoju spoke along with Telangana activists Pasham Yadagiri and Gade Innayya at a media conference held at Gun Park on Tuesday, where several families of these martyrs were also present.

"Telangana as a state came about because of everyone's struggle. The struggle was of the people from all walks of life.  More importantly, there were the self-sacrifice of thousands of youths. But today the TRS government is turning a blind eye to this reality and instead developed the arrogance of power it wields. It is wrong for the TRS government to insult the families of the martyrs by not doing justice to them," Dasoju said.

“I was also a member of the committee that prepared the 2014 TRS Election Manifesto. Numerous points were included in it to do justice to the families of the martyrs,” he said.

TRS manifesto including a government job, Rs 10 lakh as financial aid to the family of each martyr and setting up of a martyrs memorial should be first priority, he said.

“But even eight years later, justice has not been done to the martyrs. Not a single promise written in the Manifesto was fulfilled. The power which the TRS government and its leaders are enjoying today is the result of the sacrifices of the martyrs. Do not forget that TRS leaders are sitting on the pools of blood of the martyrs,” Dasoju said.

He said, "In December 2013, the Telangana Development Forum published a list of about 900 martyrs, including their addresses. A collection of details of those who died after 2014, led by Pasham Yadagiri, revealed that 1,381 people were martyred. KCR himself testified on the floor of the assembly that 1,560 people were martyred. Strangely, the Telangana government has so far identified only 576 martyrs.”
