Maoist links case: Prof GN Saibaba acquitted, release ordered

HYDERABAD: Former Delhi University Professor, GN Saiababa was on Friday acquitted by the Bombay High Court in a case related to his alleged Maoist links. The court also ordered his immediate release from prison.

Saibaba, along with five others, were convicted under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act in March 2017, and was sentenced to life imprisonment.

His immediate release after the acquittal was ordered by a division bench of Justices Rohit Deo and Anil Pansare at the Nagpur Bench of the Bombay High Court.
