VIJAYAWADA: Candidates, who qualified in the DSC conducted in 1998, have appealed to Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy that he render justice by appointing them as teachers.

Speaking to media here on Tuesday, Association of 1998 DSC Qualified Candidates leaders G. Mohan Rao, M. Pitchaiah and Sk. Khasim Peeran underlined that though they had passed the DSC test, the selection process was suspended following anomalies in the interview process.

Association leaders said they took up the issue to the notice of then opposition leader Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy, who raised the matter in the assembly. After Rajasekhar Reddy became CM, he asked the 1998 DSC qualified candidates to join as Vidya Volunteers, promising to regularise their services as special teachers. Unfortunately, Rajasekhar Reddy died in a helicopter crash and their issue has remained pending ever since.

Mohan Rao, Pitchaiah and Khasim said they had brought their issue to notice of Telugu Desam government in 2014, which appointed a committee to resolve the issue. They claimed the committee recommended that jobs be allotted to 1998 DSC qualified candidates. But the same has not materialised even though it is 2021 now.

Association leaders said they recently met government advisor (public affairs) Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy who assured justice. Under the circumstances, they urged CM Jagan to consider their issue on humanitarian grounds and offer them jobs.
