Woman, 2 daughters end lives by suicide in Bowenpally

HYDERABAD: A 55-year-old woman and her two daughters ended their lives by suicide at their house at Manikanta Colony in Bowenpally on Tuesday morning.

The deceased were identified as Ketha Vijayalakshmi, her elder daughter Ketha Chandrakala, 30 and youngest Ketha Uma Sanjana, 29.

According to police, Vijayalakshmi's nephew Sudheer Goud went to meet them on Tuesday morning. As they did not respond to the doorbell, he grew suspicious and broke open the kitchen door and found them dead, Bowenpally police said.

We found a letter stating no one is responsible for the deaths, Bowenpally police inspector Kandula Ravi Kumar said.

Vijayalakshmi's husband Suryanarayana Goud, had died after a prolonged illness on April 4, 2022, since then the family was in depression, police said.

Following that, Vijayalakshmi and her daughters had attempted to end their lives by suicide in the past but were saved by Sudheer and underwent treatment, police said.

On Tuesday, when Sudheer found them dead,  he alerted the police. Police rushed to the scene and recovered the suicide note written by Vijayalakshmi in Telugu and compared it with her handwriting that matched, police sources disclosed.

Chandralaka and Sanjana had completed their MBA. Chandrakala was working from home and was taking care of her sister Sanjana who was hearing and speech impaired, Ravi Kumar said. Suranarayana was an industrialist, the inspector said. Police registered a case of suspicious death under section 174 of the CrPC and are investigating. The victims’ bodies were shifted to Gandhi Hospital for post-mortem.
