Mother, child die as wall collapses in Chavassery

KANNUR: Monsoon claimed two lives in Kannur on Monday. A young mother and her two-year-old daughter were killed when a compound wall that was damaged in rain collapsed on them. The deceased have been identified as Abida (21), wife of Noufal and their daughter Nisviya, Lakshamveedu colony, Chavassery, near Mattannur.

The mother and daughter were standing near a compound wall near their house on Monday evening when the mishap occurred. At around 4 pm, the wall, surrounding a plot near their house, which was damaged in the rain, fell on them, said the police. Though the mother and daughter were taken to the hospital, their lives could not be saved. The bodies have been kept at AKG hospital for post-mortem.
