This is encounter of Constitution': Asad on UP encounter
HYDERABAD: Questioning the encounter of Asad Ahmad, an accused in the murder of Umesh Pal in Uttar Pradesh, AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi asked if the BJP government in Haryana would also shoot those who killed Junaid and Nasir.
Speaking during the Jalsa Youm-ul-Quran in Nizamabad, Asaduddin, in an emotional tone, said that the BJP government was selective in its approach when it comes to Muslims.
“Will you be doing an encounter of those who killed Junaid and Nasir? You won’t since you indulge in encounters in the name of religion. Only one (accused) is caught, while the remaining nine remain at large. This is a mockery of the law and you are doing an encounter of the Constitution. The rule of law has been undermined. What is the need for courts, judges, and public prosecutors? Why are there CrPC and IPC? If you have decided to ensure justice with bullets then shut down the courts,” he said.
On Union minister Nirmala Sitharaman’s statements that Muslims of India were better when compared to Pakistan and their population was rising, Asad said that it was humiliating to compare with Pakistan, rather comparison should be done with developed nations, when India claims to be a “vishwaguru”.
“Population of Muslims is not growing as the total fertility rate has gone down, as shown by government data,” he said.
