HYDERABAD: Travelling on the national highways (NHs) in Telangana would be costlier from April 1. The Union transport ministry is likely to give approvals to a report sent by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) seeking revision of the toll fares.

According to sources, NHAI revised the price by up to 15 per cent of the existing prices. As per rules of Determination of Rates and Collections, 2008, the authority revised the prices after obtaining permission from the ministry, which is likely to finalise the report by March 20.

"The revised prices of toll plazas will come out soon and we will erect boards on all toll plazas for the convenience of the travellers. We planned to revise the existing prices up to 15 percent based on traffic at toll plazas. There are 28 toll plazas in Telangana and most of them will revise the rates," officials said.
NHAI has targeted a collection of Rs 12 crore in toll plaza fee in Telangana. This financial year it is estimating a collection of Rs 15 crore in the state," an officer said.
