Visakhapatnam: The transport department officials launched raids on private travel buses at the Aganampudi tollgate of Visakhapatnam on Sunday morning. Officials said that cases have been registered against 38 buses and a fine of 4.5 lakh has been imposed.

In the background of the Sankranti festival, many complained that the private transport owners were violating rules. Motor vehicle inspectors Hariprasada Rao and Srujana stopped the private buses early in the morning
and checked the relevant documents. Many private transport owners were found
guilty.

The officials found buses charging tickets more than the specified price, over luggage carriers etc. They stated that if private transporters try to rob people who are in need of going home for Makar Sankranti festival, they
will not be spared.
