Hubballi: Former Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai has leveled serious accusations, alleging that attempts to suppress the Haveri moral policing incident involved offering money to the victims. Speaking to reporters in Hubballi on Sunday, Bommai claimed that cops of Haveri offered money to the victims to close the incident.

Bommai called for a comprehensive investigation and urged the government to form a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the matter.

"Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is scheduled to visit Haveri on Monday. We expect him to make an announcement with regard to this," he said.

Bommai disclosed that, under the pretext of an investigation, the victim was taken to Sirsi after local police got wind of the visit from a BJP women's delegation to Haveri.

Accusing the Congress Party of engaging in such political maneuvers, Bommai questioned the expectations from such actions.

Regarding CM Siddaramaiah's stand on the Ram Mandir issue, the BJP leader remarked that the Chief Minister has finally shown wisdom, albeit belatedly.

"Despite having 'Rama' in his name, Siddaramaiah neglected Lord Ram for the sake of political power. While initially stating he would visit Ayodhya after January 22, he later backtracked. It appears that his inner consciousness urges him to go, but the party high command has vetoed the decision. This situation indicates the CM's state of confusion," Bommai said.
