Anantapur: The Satya Sai district police cracked the case of  abduction of a five-year-old girl and rescued her within hours at Puttaparthi, district headquarters of Satya Sai district. The police identified the abductor as Sai Kumar.

SP Madhava Reddy said Lakshitha, 5, of Puttaparthi was playing near the supermarket area on Saturday night. A man abducted her by offering her chocolates and crackers.

The girl's parents Giri Naik and Aruna Bai searched for her in the nearby areas and later lodged a complaint with the Puttaparthi town police.

The Puttaparthi police alerted the police stations of Satya Sai and Anantapur districts and conducted search operations. After checking the available CCTV footage, the police teams noticed a man taking the girl away from the ‘More’ market premises.

After taking the girl to a distance, the abductor apparently feared a police search and left her in Prasanthi Nilayam. Based on this information, the police rushed to the spot and rescued the girl in the wee hours on Sunday.

SP Madhava Reddy handed over Lakshitha to her parents at the camp office. He advised parents to be watchful while leaving their children to play in the streets.
