Nine AP government polytechnics get NBA certification

Vijayawada: Following efforts made by the Technical Education Department, nine government polytechnic colleges in Andhra Pradesh have received certification from the National Board of Accreditation (NBA).

These are in Srikakulam, Vijayawada, Kuppam, Anakapalli, Gannavaram, Kalyandurg, Amudala Koli, Kakinada and Guntur.

Sharing this information, Technical Education commissioner Chadalavada Nagarani said the remaining government polytechnics too are taking steps to ensure that they get the NBA certification. She underlined that efforts in this direction started after Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy wanted every single government polytechnic to impart technical education of high standards.

Nagarani said a team from NBA will be inspecting five more government polytechnics, which have applied for the board’s certification. She pointed out that Technical Education Department had made special efforts towards making polytechnics conform to the NBA standards. Through constant visits and reviews, they ensured that Srikakulam, Vijayawada, Kuppam, Anakapalli, Gannavaram, Kalyandurg, Amudala Koli, Kakinada and Guntur polytechnics got NBA recognition.

The commissioner said getting NBA certification entails modernisation of laboratories, rationalisation of staff and improvement in facilities for students, among others.
