More than 60 streetlights are being setup in the area for which the digging activity was taken up in April.

Hyderabad: Installation of streetlights on Manjeera pipeline road which commenced in April has been stalled for more than a month.

The road dug up for laying electric poles, has now turned into risk ride for thousands of commuters. More than 60 streetlights are being setup in the area for which the digging activity was taken up in April.

A commuter, V. Chaitanya, said, “Debris from digging is left without any caution. As the road is clear, the vehicles travel on increased speeds. This delay in installing streetlights can cause serious accidents, especially at night.”

However, the contractor has brought cheap quality streetlights which did not meet the standards set by the GHMC.

A GHMC official pointed out, “We gave standard specifications of the streetlights which are being made again. We did not want to go ahead with whatever street lights that were procured earlier. We may get the streetlights in the next 10 days.”
