HYDERABAD: The Congress celebrated the 103rd birth anniversary of former chief minister Marri Chenna Reddy here on Friday. Party leaders garlanded the portrait of Chenna Reddy here at Gandhi Bhavan and recalled his services.

In 1969, Chenna Reddy played a key role as president of Telangana Praja Samiti in the first statehood agitation, they said. The agitation for Telangana state had drawn attention at the international level, they said.

 Under the leadership of Chenna Reddy, Congress party came to power twice in then united Andhra Pradesh, said TPCC working president Anjan Kumar Yadav, senior vice-presidents G. Niranjan and T. Kumar Rao spoke.

Chenna Reddy’s grandson Marri Adithya Reddy distributed sweets and clothes to the needy in memory of the former chief minister. TPCC general secretary Manavatha Roy, Allam Bhaskar, Krishna Kumar, Babu Rao, Ayub and others were present.
