Thrissur: The mark sheets of  dance events in the state school youth festival held in Palakakd  in January 2014 and the Thrissur district youth festival in December 2014 were tampered with. This was revealed here on Friday by a socio-cultural organisation ‘Malayalam Vedi’ which made public the mark sheets prepared by judges who decided the winners of those events.

The family of  a girl contestant who took part in the youth festivals during these years had collected the mark sheets from the Information Commission through an RTI application as the official of the education department said that the mark sheets were confidential.

The mark sheets in  both the state and the district levels have created doubts over external influence as marks are seen altered after the completion of the event just before the announcement of  the results. In the mark sheet of the district-level competition, some judges had kept all the columns for marks blank on specifics likes expressions, rhythm, costumes among others  and only the total marks were  given in the  column concerned.

Mr George Vattukulam, president of Malayala Vedi,  told DC,  “the family of a contestant who  took part in the events during 2013 and 2014  gave  the documents to me. Upset over the judgments, they  filed  an RTI application  and found out several anomalies in the mark sheets,”  he said.

He has already filed  a petition at the Thrissur Vigilance Court over the judgments in the youth festival and the mark sheets would be handed over to the court.
