Withdraw cases registered against Prof. Ashok Kumar: NSUI

Hyderabad: NSUI state president B. Venkat on Friday demanded that the police withdraw cases registered against Prof. Ashok Kumar for staging a protest demanding the postponement of Group-II exams. Police had arrested Prof. Kumar and shifted him to Chanchalguda Central Prison.

NSUI leaders led by Venkat visited the prison and met Prof. Kumar. Later, Venkat spoke to media persons and alleged that police had registered false cases against Prof. Kumar.

"The government must consider postponing the Group-II exams based on the demand of the candidates. When candidates staged a protest, the government and police concentrated on registering false cases. We demand the that the government withdraw cases registered against Prof. Ashok Kumar immediately," Venkat said.

The NSUI state president also stated that the police were trying to take custody of Prof. Kumar for questioning him in the case. The NSUI demanded that the not harass Prof. Kumar. The NSUI would fight against police before a court of law.

A number of candidates staged a protest at TSPSC on Thursday demanding the government postpone the Group-II exams.
