Hyderabad: Hyderabad Lok Sabha member Asaduddin Owaisi on Sunday inaugurated a fully equipped 23-bed Covid ward at Indo US Hospital premises in Malakpet.

Owaisi assured cooperation to the hospital to further improve healthcare infrastructure and Covid preparedness with MP funds.

Addressing the gathering, he said, “Saving lives is more important than saving heritage. The condition of Osmania Hospital has been deteriorating with every passing day. Osmania Hospital needs a built up area of 20 lakh square feet.”

He said “Osmania Hospital Medical College is the oldest medical college in the country and it has given us countless doctors in different disciplines. The annual number of surgeries has come down from 90,000 to 45,000. We will not let the government escape the Osmania Hospital issue, by citing heritage concerns”.

Sahayata Trust’s CEO Syed Aneesuddin said high-quality oxygen concentrators with dual output, dialysis machines and an in-house oxygen plant that is due to arrive on July 15 will provide support to Covid patients.

Once operational, the oxygen plant funded by IMRC, USA, and implemented by the Sahayata Trust, which manages the Indo US Hospital, will be able to provide 24x7 liquid medical oxygen.
