HYDERABAD: People from the state will have to brave the summer heat for another five days as monsoon is expected hit Telangana around June 16. The IMD said the southwest monsoon entered Andhra Pradesh on Sunday.

A MET official, speaking to Deccan Chronicle, said that the monsoon delay was due to Cyclone Biparjoy in the Arabian Sea. For the next three days, the state will experience scattered rainfall after which rainfall will increase.

Officials also said that thunderstorms were occurring because of the heat wave and diurnal heating. The heat wave alert will end on Monday.

Though the weather was scorching, mercury level dipped marginally. Peddapalli was the hottest in the state at 44.3ºC. The city stayed under the 40ºC mark, but only just about, for the second straight day with Saroornagar being the warmest at 39.7ºC.

Thunderstorms with light to moderate rains will continue in the state for the next five days.
