Hyderabad: Almost a month after restoring the breadwinners scheme, the TS Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) has decided to resurrect the medical invalidation scheme, that offers employment to dependents of employees who resigned owing to medical invalidation. There are about About 250 to 300 such employees.

The TSRTC management halted the scheme in 2019 for a number of reasons, including revenue loss due to increased diesel prices and staff surplus, and, later, the Covid-19 outbreak. The corporation officials on Tuesday decided to reinstate the scheme with certain riders.

According to a TSRTC circular issued on August 9, the kin of RTC personnel who resign due to medical invalidation would get temporary appointments on compassionate grounds and consolidated salary for the first three years.  These candidates will be employed as grade-2 drivers, conductors, shramic and RTC constables, among other positions, and are required to work 240 days in a year. Grade-2 conductors and drivers will each receive Rs 17,000 per month, while the two remaining posts will each receive Rs 15,000.

According to the circular, there are several pending applications; as a result, candidates will be evaluated in phases in accordance with the requirement of the corporation. The applications would be evaluated according to region, and the employee's date of retirement for medical reasons would be the criteria to rank all applicants in order of seniority
